Membership of the Dyslexia Association of Ireland is available to any person – parent, teacher, adult with dyslexia, member of the public – who wishes to support our work. Membership is necessary to avail of many DAI services, such as our tuition services. Members are entitled to serve on Branch and National Executive Committees and to vote at DAI Annual General Meetings. All members of local and national Committees must be full members, as must individual tutors who are listed with the Association. Current members may be entitled to reduced entrance fees for attending DAI talks and conferences, and a reduced fee for psycho-educational assessment.
The annual fee is currently €40 euro for individual or family membership (only one membership is needed per family), and is due for renewal annually. A reduced rate annual membership of €20 is available for people on social welfare or very low income – please contact national office if you need to apply for this. Members receive a membership card with a new number when they renew each year. Members receive individual mailings of two newsletters minimum per year and may also opt to go on our email database to receive more frequent email notices.
A membership form can be downloaded below. A Banker’s Order Form is available from the office should you wish to set up an annual standing order from your bank account to cover your membership.
Why Membership Is Important: By being a member of DAI you are part of a nationwide organisation currently representing over 3,000 families and 34 branches. The money you give provides someone at the end of a phone to answer a query from a worried parent, advice for a teacher on availability of courses, a visit from a member of DAI to help a group set up a new branch and workshop. You may have needed this help in the past. You may need it again in the future. Your membership fee helps to ensure that the association will be there when you, and others, need it.
